Why I Stopped Using Traditional Browsers?

The journey towards a "Decentralized World"

Why I Stopped Using Traditional Browsers?

Are you still using Chrome, Safari,… and these so-called traditional browsers then in this article I will provide you with enough reasons why you should stop using those.

So let’s understand what is meant by traditional browsers directly by asking one of them 😁 ( Hey Chrome What is the definition of centralized browsers)

Tradition browsers are also called centralized browsers because a centralized network architecture is built around a single server that handles all the major processing. Less powerful workstations connect to the server and submit their requests to the central server rather than performing them directly. This can include applications, data storage, and utilities.

Drawbacks Of Using Traditional Browsers

  1. They are resource hungry and start draining too much battery even if you have opened just a bunch of tabs.

  2. Most of these are run by huge multinational technology giants and thus can be categorized as a monopoly business as there are just a handful of players.

  3. Hell lot of data is collected by these browsers which include very private/personal details of the user.

  4. These personal details are used to show us highly targeted ads.

  5. They use trackers in the name of “making our browsing experience faster and more convenient” but in reality, they should block ads and trackers which follow us across the web.

Rise Of Decentralized Browsers

As more and more users came to know about the dirty games of traditional browsers now was the perfect time for a new revolution in this entire field that would not only overtake these old players but also completely redesign the entire space.

It all started with an aim to shift the control and decision making power from the centralized entity ( organization, individual, or a group ) which directly meant providing a very innovative experience to the users so that not only browser can provide a safe, secure and faster way to access the needed information but also a way through which users own their data, the user is the customer as well as the owner of it, what should be tracked and what shouldn’t be lies on the decision of the user. Also, they can earn from the ads which are shown to them if they have selected to see ads options, a safe secure cold wallet is also embedded in the browser itself so no more worries of storing your crypto assets and really much more.

If I make a list of features then hopefully a series of articles will be required so I will just keep it short in this article and continue it in the upcoming articles.

I am very bullish about the future of the decentralized world and decentralized browsers. Thus now it’s high time to make a transition, I would like to appeal to you all that take the right step at the right moment with the right mindset.

Which Browser Is The Best?

I am using the Brave browser from the past 3 months and I am loving the experience. There was so much to explore, use as well as learn as I made a transition towards a decentralized world.

image.png In the above image you can see that as I have turned the shield ON, it is providing me with various features like:

  1. Blocking fingerprinting
  2. Cross-site cookies are blocked
  3. Scripts blocked ( I have turned it off as if I will block scripts then the website won’t work properly )
  4. Connection is upgraded to HTTPS
  5. Trackers and ads are blocked

This is just a small glance of what Brave is capable of so if you want me to cover all details about the features and what configurations you can set to ensure you are fully utilizing the real power of Brave do follow me so that you will get the notifications when I publish the entire series.
